You should have these tools before learning the process. Keep them with you while changing headlights. Gloves, flashlights, a pair of screwdrivers, box of sockets, and a pair of needle-nose pliers.

Process to Replace Car Headlights

1. Read the User Manual

The user manual book usually sees dustbin or drawer because no one is interested in reading it. If you want to replace the headlights you need to read the user manual thoroughly. It will give you a proper idea of what to do with pictures. So do go through it.

2. Extract the Bulb

Now that you have read the user manual booklet then it is time to take the next step. Extract the bulb with help of a screwdriver. Then open the hood and eliminate the connection. Please ensure if the headlight bulb is properly out or not. Check it thoroughly if it is not working then simply change the bulb and attach it back.

2. Test Wires

If your light is not working properly, there could be a problem in the wire. If the light is not working, only then you need to replace it. Also, you have to test the bulb and notice if the wire is attached or not. If no power is going to the light that means there is a problem with the wire. It is possible that the wire is broken or pinched. Then replace the wire or fix it.

3. Unlock the Hood

Unlocking the hood is the next move as you can increase the access to the headlight’s bulb by completely unlocking the hood and eliminating the lamp’s connection with headlights. So unlock the hood to proceed further.

4. Clean and Install the New Bulb

Before starting the process, keep extra tissues handy with you as you would need them. Handle the bulb with either tissues or gloves otherwise oil will grace your skin. Give an alcohol wipe to the new bulb before installing.

Once the cleaning work is done, stick the bulb into the base of the plug. Make sure no bulb’s rubber gasket is showing out. Then put the headlight holder back in place and plug the power.

While changing or replacing headlights, you need to be very careful while touching the new bulb’s glass because it contains natural oil. The bulb may not work if anything goes wrong while changing it. So take the necessary precautions.
